Pedagogical support for schools

The association “Les 7 calvaires monumentaux de Bretagne” offers its support for public and private schools eager to organise visits on the theme of great calvaries and more generally speaking the architectural environment. The association offers its services and pedagogical tools to teachers as a basis to discover and study the Breton historical heritage.

There is the following analysis: it might be difficult to encourage primary and secondary school classes to visit local heritage, in spite of its exceptional nature. Thus, the association provides teachers with practical tools helping for organisation of visits. The association “Les 7 calvaires monumentaux de Bretagne” also participates in the definition of axes of work in order to develop visits within the framework of an education program adapted to disciplines such as history, geography, French (legends and myths), arts and natural science.

On each area of the seven great calvaries, visits are organised by local people. Their interventions are based on goals defined by teachers and with the will of integrating art history education taught at primary school, secondary school and high school.
